Frequently Asked Questions
About the Products
Is this legal advice? No. CoverageWon's products are for educational and informational purposes only. They do not constitute legal advice and do not create any attorney-client relationship. For advice specific to your situation, consult a licensed healthcare attorney or Certified Patient Advocate (BCPA). See our full Disclaimer page for details.
Will this guarantee my appeal is approved? No. No product, service, or professional can guarantee an appeal outcome. Results depend entirely on your specific plan, denial reason, state law, documentation quality, and your insurer's review process. What our system provides is the same organized, professional framework that patient advocates use — giving your appeal the best possible structure and legal grounding.
Who created these products? CoverageWon is a digital education company focused on health insurance literacy and the appeal process. Our products were built by researching the frameworks and systems used by professional patient advocates and organizing them into a self-guided format accessible to any insured person.
Is the information current? We make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate and current. However, laws and regulations change. Always verify critical deadlines with your specific plan documents and your State Insurance Commissioner's office.
About the Purchase
What format are the files? All products are delivered as PDF files. PDFs work on any device — phone, tablet, or computer — using any standard PDF reader (Adobe Acrobat Reader, Apple Preview, Google Chrome, iPhone Files app, etc.).
How do I receive my files after purchase? Immediately after Paddle confirms your payment, a download link is sent to your email address. Delivery typically takes minutes. If you don't receive it within 1 hour, check your spam folder. If it's not there, email support@coveragewon.com with your order number and we'll sort it out right away.
Who processes my payment? All payments are processed by Paddle.com as our Merchant of Record. CoverageWon never receives or stores your payment card details. Paddle is PCI DSS Level 1 certified and handles all tax collection automatically. Guest checkout with any major credit or debit card is accepted — no account needed.
Can I share the files with someone else? Your license is personal and non-transferable. You may share access with an immediate family member for the same appeal matter. You may not share, redistribute, or resell to anyone else. See our Acceptable Use Policy for details.
Can I use these products for my clients or patients? No. Our license is for personal, non-commercial use only. Using our products for client work — even unpaid — requires a separate commercial license. Contact support@coveragewon.com for commercial licensing inquiries.
About Appeals
How long do I have to appeal? Federal law (ACA and ERISA) generally requires insurers to give you at least 180 days from the date of your denial notice to file an internal appeal. After a final internal denial, you typically have 4 months to request an external review. These deadlines start from the date ON your denial letter, not the date you receive it. Always verify with your specific plan documents.
Does this work for Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, VA, or TRICARE? Our system is primarily designed for private commercial insurance — employer-sponsored plans and ACA marketplace plans. Government programs (Medicare, Medicaid, VA, TRICARE) have separate appeal processes with different rules and timelines. The Know Your Rights Handbook covers general principles that may apply, but we recommend also consulting your government program's specific appeal procedures.
My denial type isn't listed. Can this still help? Our system covers 8 denial types that account for the large majority of commercial insurance denials: Medical Necessity, Prior Authorization, Out-of-Network, Experimental/Investigational, Coverage Exclusion, Coordination of Benefits, Timely Filing, and Coding/Administrative Error. The Know Your Rights Handbook and The Appeal Command Center apply broadly regardless of denial type.
Should I hire a professional instead? For high-stakes cases (large dollar amounts, complex medical situations, imminent deadlines, or after receiving a final denial), we recommend consulting a licensed healthcare attorney or Certified Patient Advocate. Our system is not a substitute for professional representation — it is a self-help educational resource.
